| I find it odd that many candidates will oppose the death penalty for felons yet allow late term (or any) abortion of innocents. Abortion should not be a form of birth control. Further, Adoption should be reformed so parents can adopt children rather than unwanted children be eliminated before they can take a breath. | |||

| We have experienced this before: Slightly decreasing taxes increases the overall volume of tax revenue which increases the overall tax revenue. The more we tax, the more people avoid paying them. Instead of being creative with tax increases, we should spend our energy to figure out creative means to improve the efficiency of our government - thus eliminating further need to increase taxes. We waste too much. | |||
| Before any of the aforementioned options would be chosen, I'd work on the clearing out the waste we have in our 'good ole boy/girl' government structure. There are many in government employ and in private sector who have vested interest in incumbents continuing the 'status quo'. Cronyism, sweetheart deals and waste in budget expenditures should be cleared out. Too much is swept under the rug. | |||

| Capital punishment is similar to abortion. If we allow one, we should allow the other. In the cases of capital punishment, the ruling should be one which is irrefutable, not just 'beyond a reasonable doubt'. In the cases of minors and sexually explicit photos, too many kids do not have any idea what the real impact is of their actions. A teen may send a photo hoping to create a response from a love-interest. This is more immature and poorly thought out than criminal. I'd recommend that parents be better parents and take the devices away. | |||

| I'd rather see increases in job training than increases in benefits for the unemployed. When people are paid when not working, a large portion think of it as being paid NOT to work. When I was unemployed (more than once), I took the time to teach myself new skills to become more marketable. This should be more commonplace. | |||

| Common Core State Standards should be a guideline rather than a mandate. Sometimes, it may be necessary to deviate from the standards. I do applaud the desire to improve educational goals for all students. We have seen a trend of 'lessening' of expectations for students. | |||

| The government should not be in the role of picking winners in losers in industry. Fracking should not be allowed unless it can clearly be demonstrated that a process is in place to safely do it. As far as environmental regulations go, we have to go back and fix regulations we have. If we over-regulate, we hurt ourselves. What we need is a clear set of rules to which all may adhere. | |||

| I greatly appreciate what our nation's Constitution allows. If the government restricts citizens from having firearms, then there isn't a possibility of creating a militia when needed. Further, I have seen demonstrated that when guns are outlawed, the law abiding citizens follow the rules and the criminals do not care about the laws which restrict the guns. If an evil person intends to harm others, and there is the possibility of return fire, they may rethink it. The air marshals are an example of how this works on air lines. | |||

| First priority would be to work to eliminate regulations which are restricting/harming our farmers in NC. Second would be to build a better system to eliminate the waste which the silos of government create. While one group spends millions on an initiative which is designed just for them they could include other groups to allow a broader impact (benefit). Further, too much waste is built into the system. This simply must be addressed. Private enterprises who waste this much do not have taxpayer revenue to fall back on to fix the waste. Why should the State? |
